At a time when both designers and consumers are overwhelmed by complicated manufacturing techniques and advanced material technologies, Luis Eslava champions the straightforward in Face to Face, an installation for the Design Museum Atrium, made from humble Velcro.
Since its invention in the early 1940s Velcro has been used for a variety of purposes but is usually hidden from view. Through Face to Face Eslava brings the material's unique flexibility, transparency and tactility to the fore through beautifully sculptural objects - infinitely reconfigurable light shades and wall applications that spread across any surface like 3D drawings.
