2007 marks 25 years since the opening of the Boilerhouse – the original incarnation of the Design Museum. To mark this significant anniversary, as the museum sets about a major expansion programme, we are organising an exhibition that maps the key design landmarks of the last quarter of a century. To help us, we invited 25 individuals – designers or those with a special interest in design – to select 25 objects that, as they see it, represent the best, or the most characteristic design of the period.
Selectors include: Maarten Baas, Mario Bellini, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Terence Conran, Matali Crasset, Ilse Crawford, James Dyson, Stefano Giovannoni, Konstantin Grcic, Gitta Gschwendtner, Martì Guixé, Jaime Hayon, Sam Hecht, John Hegarty, Gill Hicks, Matthew Hilton, James Irvine, John Maeda, David Mellor, John Pawson, Dieter Rams, Richard and Ab Rogers, Richard Seymour and Dick Powell, Paul Smith and Deyan Sudjic
