Primary
Design + Creativity Workshops
Our Primary Design + Creativity Workshops support National Curriculum and QCA requirements for Design + Technology and History at Key Stage 2, and can be modified for pupils at KS1. Based on our unique product handling collections, each 90 minute workshop combines observation and evaluation, drawing, discussion and creative opportunities.
Choose from the following Primary Design + Creativity Workshops:
Recycle!
Supported by a handling collection of innovative products made from recycled materials, pupils explore the potential of re-using materials to create 3D design ideas for bags and containers.
Chairs
Pupils evaluate a diverse handling collection of folding chairs – and the extraordinary range of chairs in our exhibitions – before creating 3D design ideas for their own chairs.
Chocolate Box
A mouth-watering selection of chocolate box packaging designs are the inspiration for pupils to create mock-ups of their own chocolate box designs – using a range of graphic techniques.

Fashion Textiles
Inspired by an exciting new collection of fashion textiles and new current exhibition Matthew Williamson – 10 Years in Fashion pupils explore a range of fabrics and textile surface patterns to create their own fashion textile designs.
Mobile Phones
Pupils evaluate an iconic collection of mobile phone handsets which highlight key product design developments. They then consider sustainability issues and use redundant phone parts to create exciting new product ideas. The Design Museum’s new mobile phone collection and teaching resources have been generously donated by schools mobile recycling company Foneclub.
